Marine Boat Welder – Minimum 5 Years Experience
Duties and Responsibilities
- Determines welding methods, and all particulars of requested job
- Selects positions, aligns parts or fixtures to be welded
- Structural welding of boats in all positions
- MIG weld aluminium
- Read blueprints/ sketches
- Maintains high level of accuracy, efficiency and safety, ensure quality workmanship
- Ability to weld MIG (Gas Metal Arc Welding) and TIG (Tungsten Metal Arc Welding), aluminium
- Tacks and braces projects in accordance with requirements
- Perform welding in accordance with weld procedures
- Ability to follow instruction from Fabrication team leader.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Skill in selecting appropriate tools for the task on hand.
- Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
- Ability to setup welding machines
- Awareness that metals can warp during the welding process and applies appropriate welding practices, including bracing and various counter measures to ensure tolerances are maintained
- Ability to read, understands, follow, and enforce safety procedures
- Ability to use a computer for logging onto and off a job
- Ability to understand and read English procedures and follow them
Conditions of Employment
- Has the legal right to work in New Zealand
- Pay rate: $25.00 to $35.00 per hour
- Minimum hours of work per week 38 hours
- Maximum hours of work per week 52 hours
Marine Painter
Duties and Responsibilities
- Applies sealers, primers and paint, to exterior and interior boats
- Capable of using a sprayer to prime and spray paint
- Experience with all different types of paint hand tools
- Ability to spray paint inside or outside while keeping safety standards in mind
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Physical capacity to perform all aspects of the job
- Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Clean and dry all surfaces to be painted
- Cover all areas not being painted to avoid mistakes
- Maintain proper safety standards when working with painting products
- Clean all equipment when job is finished
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Skill in selecting and applying paint and associated products.
- Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
- Ability to select, mix, and apply surface coatings
- Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
- Ability to use a computer for logging onto and off a job
- Ability to understand and read English procedures and follow them
Conditions of Employment

- Pay rate: $25.00 to $35.00 per hour
- Minimum hours of work per week 40 hours
- Maximum hours of work per week 48 hours
Marine Electrician / Fit Out Technician
Duties and Responsibilities
- Read and understand installation manuals and install components to a high level
- Mount and wire marine components such as transducers/ radars etc
- Wire battery banks, start and house systems
- Mount, wire and plumb outboard and inboard engines including joystick steering systems
- Mount wire and plumb diesel cookers/ovens/heaters
- Install and fully complete installations
- Ensures proper care of the boat and protects surfaces to eliminate damaging the boat and components
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
- Follow standard operating procedures.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Solid understanding of 12v systems
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Ability to fault find and provide solutions to a problem
- Display common sense and forward planning
- Ensures proper care of the boat and protects surfaces to eliminate damaging the boat and components
- Ability to follow instructions from Fit-out team leader and follow standard operating procedures.
